 The titanium fiber felt is a type of titanium fiber sintered felt and made of titanium fiber with high porosity and gradient pore size structure, this approach can form a three-dimensional gas conducting channel, thereby improving electrolytic activity and conductivity, and has a lower hydrogen leakage rate.

The process involves using a special process to produce micrometer sized fibers from titanium wire, which are then laid and sintered into porous materials. Its unique three-dimensional network fibers and fully connected pore structure give it a series of special functions.  
 


In hydrogen production applications, under normal pressure and 60 ℃, titanium felt has the best electrolytic performance, the most suitable pore size, the best permeability and porosity. The test data shows that compared to carbon paper and powder titanium plate, titanium felt has the smallest ohmic resistance and brings the smallest overpotential, thereby reducing energy consumption and improving electrolysis performance. The voltage is lower than that of carbon paper and powder titanium plate, indicating that titanium felt has better electrolysis performance, and the high porosity and large pore size of titanium felt are conducive to gas emissions. 

In addition, titanium felt serves as a porous transport   layer (PTL) in proton exchange membrane electrolyzers (PEMs), responsible for efficiently transporting gases and electrons, and removing the generated oxygen. Titanium felt is generally used as a gas diffusion layer (GDL) here, on the anode side, for carrying current, transferring reactants, and   catalyzing reactions.
