Type I
The Type I hydrogen storage bottle is constructed using durable all-metal materials, typically steel or aluminum, which is designed to withstand working pressures of 200-300 bar and about 15 grams of hydrogen per lite. It owns several characteristics, including affordability, ease of production, use, and maintenance. However, due to its heavy weight and limited load-bearing capacity, it is mainly suited for the storage and transportation of low-pressure hydrogen gas. This type of hydrogen tank is widely utilized in various industrial and civilian fields, notably in the realms of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles and hydrogen power generation.

Type II
The Type II hydrogen tank is an improvement over the type I hydrogen tank, and its material and manufacturing process is mainly to produce a metal liner composed of steel and aluminum firstly, and then wrap a fiber reinforced material, which is usually made of glass fiber, which contains about 20 grams of hydrogen per liter, and the working pressure is 100bar to 500bar, compared with the type I hydrogen storage cylinder. The advantage is that the Type II hydrogen tank has a larger capacity and lighter weight.Although the Type I hydrogen storage cylinder has numerous benefits, its significant weight can still pose challenges for portable or easily transportable devices. Type III
The Type III hydrogen storage tank is composed of a metal lining and a fully composite carbon fiber wrap. Unlike the Type II hydrogen tank, it has an aluminum inner lining and then fully composite wrap by automatic fiber laying or fiber winding. This type of hydrogen cylinder can withstand pressures of up to 350bar and hold approximately 25 grams of hydrogen per litre. It is significantly lighter than both Type I and Type II tanks and can contain higher pressure volumes. However, it is more complex to manufacture and relatively expensive. At present, it is mainly utilized in the automotive industry, especially in public buses and trucks.

Type IV
Type IV hydrogen storage cylinder is the latest technology in the field of high pressure hydrogen storage for mobile applications. It is composed of polymer lining and fully composite carbon fiber packaging, working pressure up to 700bar, per liter of about 40 grams of hydrogen, mainly used in passenger cars, heavy commercial vehicles, convenient applications and other fields, with the highest storage density, the lowest weight, excellent fatigue resistance characteristics, but also has a complex manufacturing process. The disadvantage is that hydrogen is more likely to penetrate through the polymer lining.
